Dog Daycare

Dogplay2

The Dog Spot provides dog daycare from 6:30am to 6:30pm Monday through Saturday.  Unlike some of the other dog daycares, our dogs are in SUPERVISED playgroups ALL day long, with the exception of naptime, which is between 12 and 2 daily, when we are closed.

Can I come by and see the place?

Yes, we highly recommend that you tour our facility, along with some other facilities. You may come by for a tour anytime Monday though Saturday from 7:00am to 11:30am and 2:30pm to 6:00pm.  You will find that we cater to the dogs.  That said, you’ll see that we don’t have flat screen tvs or leatheDogtopr couches.  Instead, we have two large, vinyl-fenced yards, with sunshades, pools, carpets, and dogs cots.  We have indoor playrooms with rubber flooring, which is good for their hips and joints, and easy to clean, along with more dog cots. The kennels are large and open, so the dogs don’t feel boxed in.  You’ll also notice that there isn’t any barking at The Dog Spot.  Dogs bark because they are bored, stressed, anxious, or seeking attention.  They are not bored, stressed, or anxious at The Dog Spot and they are receiving appropriate attention, so they have no reason to bark.  Also, there are no overwhelming odors because we know the importance of cleanliness, especially in a place that cares for lots of animals, and it is a top priority at The Dog Spot.

What do I need to do so my dog can join The Dog Spot?Dog10

We have several requirements that must be met in order for your dog to be part of our pack.  They need to be up-to-date on all vaccinations, including Rabies, Distemper/Parvo Combo, and Bordetella.  We highly recommend that they also be on a heartworm preventative and an external parasitic during the summer months.  You may fax your vet paperwork to (720) 564-6280 or bring it along with your paperwork.  They also need to be at least 4 months old, and if they are older than 6 months, they need to be spayed or neutered.  They need to be healthy and friendly towards other dogs and people. In addition, you will need to register yourself and your pet.  You can find the “Register” link on our home page.  Click on it, then click on “New Customer” and fill out all of the requires information online.  Then call us at 720-565-3647 to schedule your pets first day of daycare.

Do I need a reservation?

Yes.  We require reservations because we limit the number of dogs in our playgroups.  We divide the dogs up into different playgroups, allowing them to be in a group that fits their play style.  For example, on a typical day, we may have a group of young, big dogs, with lots of energy.  We may have another group of dogs that are small spunky.  We may even have a group of mellow dogs, that prefer to relax and get more human attention.  If you plan on bringing your dog for daycare on a regular basis, we can set them up with a standing reservation, so you will not have to make reservations.  However, if you cannot make one of your standing reservation days, you MUST cancel at least 24 hours in advance (the cut off is noon the previous day) you will be charged.

What do I need to bring on my dog’s first day?Dog20

We love meeting new dogs and setting them up for a successful first day of daycare.  In order to set your dog up for success, please bring your vet paperwork (if you have not already faxed it or emailed it to us), along with your dog, on leash, and, if you would like, a snack for naptime.  Plan on handing us the paperwork and the dog and being on your way.  Don’t make a scene out of it, as that will only make your dog nervous.  The quicker you can be on your way, the better for your dog!

Who will be watching my dog?

Because we areDog6 a locally owned and operated business with the owners on site, you will always know who your are giving your dog to.  And, because we are on the smaller size, we know all of the dogs personally, and can give you a full report of their day, including who they played with, if they ate their lunch, and even if they had a normal stool.

What happens if there is an emergency with my dog?

Obviously, we do our best to ensure that nothing happens to your dog while in our care.  However, they are living beings and as such, anything can happen.  So, if there is an emergency, we will take your dog immediately to Arapahoe Animal Hospital, which is less than a minute away.  We will call you once your dog is at the veterinary clinic.  We will always err on the side of caution and do what is in the best interest of your dog.
